Information What is Upward Soccer? Upward Soccer is unlike any other sports league out there. While the focus of other leagues is on winning, the focus of Upward is on the child. Upward Soccer seeks to develop the character and self-esteem of each child, along with his or her athletic ability. Win or lose, the goal is the child's development. Upward Soccer is for children ages 4-12, boys and girls.
What Makes Upward Different? Children are awarded stars for their jerseys not only for best offense and defense, but also for best effort, best sportsmanship, and Christlikeness. Each child starts the same number of games and plays the same amount of time each game, regardless of his or her skill level. Teams are divided evenly by skill level based upon pre-season evaluations. Each child will be matched up against a child from the other team of a similar skill level to maximize his or her development. Rather than just competing against each other, the coaches work together for the benefit of all the children. At the end of the season, every child will receive an award for their participation, and it's not just a trophy to stick on a shelf. In the past, awards have included things such as backpacks, premium sports balls, or gear bags.
Upward also involves a spiritual emphasis as well. The coaches will present a short devotion at each practice and a devotion will be given at halftime of each game. We at Cofer's Chapel, along with the people who created Upward Sports, believe that the spiritual development of a child is the most important part of life.  How Can I Be Involved?
